Musicians from First Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC

Members and friends of Watson Memorial UMC recently enjoyed an inspirational concert by the First Baptist Church choir and orchestra from Rocky Mount, NC.
Each summer the choir performs concerts away from their home church as a blessing to others.
Associate Pastor for Music & Worship Rev. Jim Alley directed the choirs’ performance. He and Watson member Gayle Wright provided a vocal duet.
Organist/pianist for the choir is Nina Daughtridge, mother of Watson member Nina Beth Thornton. The mother and daughter performed a duet with Mrs. Thornton playing the flute.
Afterwards the choir members were treated with a special supper before they loaded into their tour buses and headed home.

The orchestra from First Baptist was a lovely accompaniment to the choir.
Nina Beth was one of the four flutists.

Gayle Wright and the Rev. Jim Alley sang a duet.
Lay leader Hal Thornton was emcee for the concert.
The 45 choir and orchestra members completely filled the choir loft.
The percussionist
Nina Thornton on the flute and her mom Nina Daughtridge on the piano performed a praise hymn.
Great food and fellowship were enjoyed after the concert in the Vansant Fellowship Hall.
After traveling all day and giving two performances, the choir and orchestra members were happy to eat and socialize before traveling the three hours back to Rocky Mount.
